Education: The Answer to Everything
The body of work was created for SOS Children’s Villages in and around the city of Gode, in the Somali region of Ethiopia—the poorest part of the country. Life there is a constant struggle against harsh, dry, and unforgiving weather. Women’s rights are often overlooked, while access to education and healthcare remains a luxury few can afford. The devastating practice of female genital mutilation is still widespread, with over 95% of girls outside the SOS Village undergoing the procedure, causing lifelong physical and emotional harm.
Within the SOS Village, however, children are given shelter, nourishment, education, and medical care. The contrast is striking. It shows just how transformative these opportunities can be. Education, above all, stands out as the key—the answer to breaking cycles of poverty, inequality, and suffering.
